New Report Reveals the 36 Most Dangerous Cities for Women Women are now more likely to die by homicide in New York City than by car accident. When comparing crime rates over the last 30 years, it's clear that certain cities are far more dangerous for women than others. A new report released this month reveals which cities have the 36 most dangerous neighborhoods, where women are much more likely to die from a homicide or other violent crime. While these cities may be dangerous for some, they're also bustling hubs of opportunity just waiting to be tapped into. For those who live and work there, these places can provide a wealth of great learning opportunities and chances for living a fulfilling life just as anyone else might. Here are some of the 36 most dangerous cities for women. #36. Las Vegas, Nevada There were 87 homicides in Las Vegas that occurred as a direct result of domestic violence in 2015, according to the study. That represents nearly one out of every five homicides committed in Las Vegas that year. Considering there were 857 total homicides, this makes domestic violence around 12 percent of all murders committed there in 2015. Just under four percent of all households across the country had domestic abuse reported within them at least once within a three-year period, according to the National Institute against Domestic Violence. #35. Milwaukee, WisconsinIn Milwaukee, just under one out of every five women reports being a victim of domestic violence at some point in her life. The city has a high rate of sexual assaults as well, with one woman in 10 reporting being a victim in their lifetimes. In 2015, there were 46 homicides in Milwaukee that involved a firearm and 112 total homicides in the city during the year. #34. Memphis, TennesseeThe area around Beale Street is home to some of the most dangerous places for women to live on this list, according to the study. The Memphis neighborhood surrounding Beale Street is home to 10 percent of all domestic violence complaints made within the city overall.
